Overview of Walk with Ease!

The Arthritis Foundation's Walk With Ease (WWE) program is an evidence-based physical activity intervention that is widely used across the country. The ISU Physical Activity and Health Promotion (PAHP) lab coordinates WWE across the state as part of a statewide project focused on arthritis care. Programming is available in group (in-person), virtual (self-directed),  or hybrid options (Details at this link: http://www.walkwitheaseisu.org/).

The standard version of WWE focuses on older adults but our Wellness Works team has developed an online version of WWE designed to support ALL adults. While walking is emphasized, the program is focused on building healthy habits. Goal setting, self-monitoring, and reflection are key elements in 'habit formation' and the WWE can help individuals learn these valuable and transferrable self-management skills.

How does it Work?

The online version of Walk with Ease program is powered by an online portal developed by the Osteoarthritis Action Alliance specifically for Walk with Ease. The portal provides a personalized 'dashboard' to guide you through the program. Customized emails and videos focused on habit formation will provide guidance and tips on being more active. Individuals can enter their weekly goals, track their physical activity, and access online resources,  all in one spot! (See Features below).

  • The system will guide you through new content each week but it will allow you to go back and review previous lessons and content
